Stolen is a prequel to the book, Damaged (part one of the Rebirth Series). I highly recommend reading Damaged first. While Stolen could be considered a standalone novel and could be read first, it does offer details about events in Damaged that would definitely be spoilers for that novel.


Stolen tells the story of Drake (Audrey’s father) and Xavier (the gargoyle and head of the York clan). In Damaged, we learn that both men have a romantic relationship with one another. Stolen shows us how that bond begins, how it is tested and how it can survive through the pain and suffering of the two characters.

I have enjoyed the Rebirth series so far and found Stolen to be a great story about the two male characters. We get to learn the reasons behind certain events from Damaged and what Drake was going through when horrible acts were committed. While other characters from Damaged are in Stolen, most of them are secondary or have very minor roles (with the exception of Marcus – (side note: While I enjoyed reading Marcus’ dialogue in the Scottish brogue, there were times when it was difficult to understand what he was saying).

Drake’s shape-shifting abilities and his alter ego were strongly written and it was fascinating to hear the shape-shifter’s thoughts and how they often contradicted what Drake wanted.
I think I connected more with Drake than Xavier because of the situations from Damaged and what lead to the strife between the father and the daughter.



If you enjoyed reading Damaged, definitely give Stolen a try!
